JOB TITLE: Lecturer in Computing (Full-Time, Permanent)
SALARY & HOURS: £38,477 pa (BAND 4, SPINE POINT 20)

The University of Buckingham School of Computing – ranked 1st for Teaching in Computing (Guardian University Guide 2025) – specialises in Artificial Intelligence, Biometrics, Computer Vision, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Internet of Things, Robotics and Topological Data Analysis. The School offers accelerated two-year undergraduate programmes, taught master’s degrees, master’s level integrated degree apprenticeships, and research master’s and PhD programmes in Computing and Mathematics. The School has a partnership with Guangzhou Polytechnic University in China to co-deliver Diploma programmes.

The School of Computing is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Computing. The successful candidate will be collaborative and motivated, bringing innovation, enthusiasm, and a commitment to high-quality teaching, research, and teamwork within a supportive and inclusive academic environment.

The Role
You will lead and contribute to the design, delivery, and ongoing development of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Computing at Buckingham as well as the Diploma programmes delivered in China.

Key responsibilities will include:
? deliver high quality teaching in small groups and supervise student projects
? provide pastoral care and inspire students to achieve their potential
? take the lead on coordinating and delivering existing modules and develop new ones
? travel overseas to deliver teaching at partner institutes for up to three months per year
? contribute to research teams and develop their own area of research
? hold administrative responsibilities as required from time to time
? contribute to promotional, recruitment and outreach activities

The core teaching responsibilities of the posts will cover the following areas: Programming (including Algorithms and Data Structures), Software Engineering and Cloud Computing.

The post is suitable for candidates who hold (or are nearing completion of) a PhD in Computing. Candidates with a relevant MSc degree (at Distinction level) and significant industry experience may also be considered, on the expectation that they will enrol in a PhD programme in Computing within two years of appointment.
